This is an implementation of the JavaScript Remote Console (JSRTC) specification. The goal of this project is to provide developers with a simple, fast, and convenient method to create and run console applications on remote machines. JsTestDriver is a single JAR file (no embedded dependencies) and is written in Java. The console is designed to be accessed from a standard *nix command line application. Most importantly, it provides a simple and easy-to-use console interface in a Java console. This is not like the older VNC/Java viewer methods of JS Driver, because it is a console client. You can have multiple tests on a single machine. You will be able to connect/disconnect to a number of remote test machines via a local machine (server) and can even connect multiple consoles (subsets of the local console) to a remote machine. A few items are available for testing: The JavaScript engine, (V8), works perfectly on both Windows and Mac OS X. If you need to run some tests in another environment, you will need to install Node.js and it's a very simple matter to connect a remote console. You can also use other JavaScript engines such as SpiderMonkey (Firefox, etc.) and Rhino (Microsoft, etc.) Javascript console tests are supported in all browsers. IE9 and later support the new console API. While JsTestDriver is intended for distributed console testing, it is also a convenient way to run tests on a single machine. I'll admit that's a pretty awesome thing for a simple Java app to do. The problem is that JsTestDriver requires at least one JVM on the server for a local console to work. But I understand that's something to be expected. As for using multiple consoles on a single machine, I've seen mention of doing this. I haven't had a chance to try it. Maybe it works. I'm going to make an attempt to get that going over the next few days. @all Thanks for the support. Please keep it up. I'll be working on a few things to improve the console and may make available a more polished version by the end of the month. Hi, I've been using JsTestDriver for the last year, It is really good and easy to use. But I've some doubts about its ability to perform "real" testing in the same way we test today.
